DBA Editions is artists Paul Atkins and Fiona De Bulat, based in London and the Kent coast.
Specialising in etching, lithography, relief and screen printing, we produce fine art limited
edition prints and collaborate with other artists to co-publish from our own studio.

We enjoy sharing our knowledge through workshops and courses in a range of locations,
from established art institutes, community events and at our Ramsgate print workshop.

The vision of DBA Editions
...
Having relocated into new and larger workshops, we are nows situated in Chapel Place, Ramsgate. Our workshops comprise of two floors offering a variety of exciting printmaking workshops for all levels of experience covering the following processes:
 
Mono-printing

Etching

Relief printing
(Wood and Lino)

Lithography (Stone & zinc plate)

Letterpress (wood & metal type)

Mobile screen-printing services (photographic/paper/textile)
 
These courses cover traditional and experimental techniques, from one-day courses on the weekend and evenings, to longer intensive classes over several weeks.
 
The courses are structured and designed for all age groups and all abilities. We can also offer individual tuition on a one to one basis or can develop a course for small groups tailor made to your interests/specialisms.

Individual access with technical support:
 
We will be offering individual access for artist/practitioners who wish to advance their skills and develop imagery from the introductory
workshops this year. This access will be available in the printmaking processes of Etching, Relief, Mono-printing
and Lithography.
 
We supply inks, newsprint, tissue and access to specialised equipment. Students supply or purchase printing plates, lino or wood blocks, and paper. All students must have completed the relevant print workshop at DBA Editions.

Introduction to MONO PRINTING 1 day workshop £65

Explore and experiment with a variety of mono-printing techniques with and without a press.
 
Develop transfer drawing, masking, ghost-printing, unique multi layered b/w & colour imagery. By the end of the session, you will have produced a series of prints working
up to size A1. In addition, gained an understanding of the
potential of this unique process.

Exploring Etching Techniques:
Sugar Lift and Aquatint
 
This course introduces the principles of Etching.
You will learn how to draw and make marks onto a
metal plate using hard and soft grounds techniques,
etch and ink up your plate for printing using specialist equipment and materials.
You will work in B/W and colour and experiment with
Chine Colle techniques.
 
The course will also develop more advanced techniques such as Sugar Lift and Aquatint. You will be able to develop your drawing and produce a series of prints by the end of the course.

 

 

 

 

Introduction to RELIEF PRINTING 1 day workshop £70

This course is a basic introduction to the principles of
Relief printing. You will learn how to draw and cut into
Lino and Block using specialised techniques.
Teaching will focus on how to ink up your lino/block ready for printing using specialist equipment and materials
 
Opportunities will be available to work in B/W and
colour and experiment with collage techniques, producing
a series of prints by the end of the course.

Introduction to LITHOGRAPHY 2 day workshop £140

This course is a basic introduction to the techniques of hand drawing on Lithographic zinc plate.
Explore the variety of different mark making techniques, from pencil; crayon to washes created through this method of printmaking.
 
During these sessions you will learn how to print in B/W and you will develop your mark making techniques through the medium of Lithography, producing a series of prints by the end of day two.

This course is a basic introduction to the principles of Letterpress; working with wood and metal type, you will gain expert knowledge and advice on composing type, proofing and printing.
 
You will learn exciting new ways of presenting type in relation to imagery and you will be able to produce a
